Along with the Nugent family the IAM mourns the loss retired Grand Lodge Representative Jack R. Nugent, who passed away on May 31, 2020 at the age of 79.
“We have lost a man who dedicated his life to making the lives of IAM members better,” said IAM International President Robert Martinez Jr. “Brother Nugent served the IAM for 60 years and will be missed by us all. Myself and the entire Executive Council send our thoughts and prayers to his family during this difficult time.”
A machinist and tool and die maker by trade, Nugent worked for Sherwin Williams in Chicago and for Anheuser Busch in St. Louis. He served as a Business Representative for IAM District 8 in Chicago and for IAM District 9 in St. Louis, before becoming a Grand Lodge Representative.
Throughout his years of service, Nugent became respected for his organizing abilities. He retired in 2005, but never lost his love for the union.
He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Dru, and together they visited all 50 states.
