This week marks the one-year anniversary of the tragic shooting at Henry Pratt Company in Aurora, IL that injured many and claimed the lives of five employees, including two IAM Local 1202 members: IAM Local 1202 Committee Chairman Russell Beyer, IAM Local 1202 member Vicente Juarez, Plant Manager Josh Pinkard, Human Resources Manager Clayton Parks and Intern Trevor Wehner.
As soon as news broke of the shooting, the IAM deployed several members of the IAM’s Critical Response Team (CIRT), which helps IAM members and their families deal with the mental side of workplace tragedies. The trained CIRT personnel were on the ground and assisting IAM Local 1202 members within 24 hours.
Because anniversaries of traumatic events can be devastating to those affected, members of the IAM CIRT will be back on the ground in Aurora throughout the weekend to work with anyone needing assistance. If you or anyone you know needs help, please reach out to the confidential IAMAW EAP/MAP Helpline by calling 301-335-0735.
The entire IAM family mourns with the members of Local 1202 and all the employees of Henry Pratt during this somber time.
