Designated Tobacco Smoking Areas Discussions 1/19/22

Brothers and Sisters,

Local S6 Leadership is currently in discussions with the Company regarding the creation of designated tobacco smoking areas. These discussions stem from several housekeeping issues and increased fires due to the current no-smoking policy.

We are looking for feedback from the membership on whether or not they would be interested in enrolling in a new policy if one is negotiated.

  • The designated tobacco smoking areas would be for all facilities and shifts.
  • All members would be allowed to smoke tobacco in designated areas before the shift, at the break, at lunch, and after shift.
  • All members working on the 2nd or 3rd shift would have additional time to smoke tobacco added to the contractual 20-minute paid lunch.
  • All members would be expected to only use the designated tobacco smoking areas at the designated times.

Gift Card Distribution Update: 1/13/22

Brothers and Sisters,

We have started distributing the $50.00 gift cards this week. We have been focusing on getting as many distributed as possible. To date, we’ve distributed over 2200. We plan to distribute off-shift and offsites next week. Overall, the reception has been extremely positive. Unfortunately, it is extremely difficult to hand these out during working hours which has limited our opportunities for distribution. With that in mind, we look forward to completing this task as fast and efficiently as possible. Rest assured, everyone that was a member of Local S6 as of 12/17/21 will receive a gift card. Thank you for all that you do.

Double Initiation Fee Resolution: Refund Information

Brothers and Sisters,

Due to an unfortunate error in payroll processing, 991 of you had an extra $50.00 deducted from your paycheck as an initiation fee. When this error was discovered, Local S6 Leadership immediately jumped into action to determine the cause and find a resolution. Please see below:

  • As such, a refund of this error will be refunded to the impacted populations 1/9/22 paycheck.
  • We have confirmed the error and deductions of that nature shouldn’t happen again in the future.
